Mills Township man yells at delivery driver to slow down

The U.S. Post Office at 2900 Rodd Street was closed after a vehicle collided with the building on Monday, March 4, 2019.

The following list includes recent reports from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Midland Police Department. Compiled by reporter Tereasa Nims.

11:34 p.m. - Deputies were dispatched to a Jerome Township location for a verbal dispute between a 32-year-old man and his former tenant, a 34-year-old woman. The woman left the residence. A deputy later contacted her about not returning to the property unless it was to retrieve her personal belongings via a civil standby from law enforcement.

10:06 p.m. - A deputy responded to an Ingersoll Township residence for a report of dogs barking. The deputy spoke with the 65-year-old male dog owner. He agreed to find a solution to keep the dogs from barking.

9:47 p.m. - A deputy responded to a Lee Township location regarding a property line dispute between an 81-year-old Homer Township man and a 58-year-old Lee Township woman. The subjects were advised that the properties needed to be surveyed to determine the property line.

7:46 p.m. - Deputies spoke with an 18-year-old Warren Township man who was receiving verbal threats from a 19-year-old man. Deputies spoke with both parties. The complainant was given instructions on how to obtain a personal protection order.

4:09 p.m. - Deputies spoke with a 75-year-old Jerome Township man as he was walking his bike down the road. Due to the high heat, a passerby was concerned. The man refused assistance and wanted to keep riding his bike.

2:03 p.m. - A deputy was dispatched to Ingersoll Township regarding loose pigs. The deputy was disregarded after the caller found where the pigs belonged. The animals were returned home.

2:37 p.m. - A deputy stood by while a 36-year-old Midland Township woman gathered belongings from her marital home.

12:33 p.m. - A deputy and Department of Natural Resources officer responded to a Porter Township residence to provide the property owner with information on Riparian Rights - rights which are associated with the ownership of the bank or shore of an inland lake or stream.

8:11 a.m. – Deputies responded to Coleman for report of a possible unwanted person. An 81-year-old woman advised she was hearing voices and thought someone else was living there. Deputies searched the residence and found no one else was there.

7:14 a.m. - Deputies responded to a Homer Township location for a report of a person sitting in the middle of the roadway. The deputies located a 45-year-old Maine man who was highly intoxicated and walking in front of vehicles traveling on the roadway. The man was taken to the emergency room. A mental health petition was completed. A report was completed and forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

3:20 a.m. - A 21-year-old Edenville Township man was arrested after a traffic stop in Homer Township. The man was lodged at the Midland County Jail. A report is being sent to the prosecutor.

2:08 a.m. - Deputies were dispatched to Greendale Township for an assault report. Michigan State Police took over the investigation due to the assault occurring outside of Midland County. MSP conducted its investigation. No further assistance was needed from the Sheriff's Office.

10:49 p.m. - A 52-year-old Mills Township woman called 911 reporting that her son was intoxicated and walking around her driveway. The son left the residence before deputies arrival.  

9:51 p.m. - Deputies were dispatched to a Homer Township business regarding a man walking along the roadway. Deputies assisted a 35-year-old man by transporting him to his mom's house.

9:21 p.m. -  A deputy spoke with a 32-year-old man who advised that tools, valued at $1,890, were stolen from his enclosed work trailer while it was parked at a residence in Ingersoll Township. This incident is under investigation.

9:03 p.m.  - A deputy was dispatched to a Warren Township business regarding a female customer who was yelling and screaming at an employee. The woman left the area before the deputy arrived. The store employees requested no further assistance.

8:49 p.m. - A deputy was dispatched to a Midland Township location for a 75-year-old woman reported that she was assaulted by her 73-year-old husband. The parties were separated. A report was forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

6:42 p.m. - Deputies were called when a person failed to pay for $109 in gas at a Greendale Township gas station.

5:26 p.m. -  A 54-year-old man reported that a 57-year-old man stole a $300 radar detector out of a parked vehicle. Attempts were made to contact the suspect, with no contact at this time. This incident is under investigation.

3:50 p.m. - Deputies responded to Midland Township to speak with a 62-year-old man regarding possible suspicious activity. The man advised that he thinks his neighbors are trespassing and wanted it documented. The man had no evidence of trespassing and deputies encouraged the man to get security cameras.

12:22 p.m. - A 31-year-old woman was arrested after an investigation regarding an assault that took place against a 26-year-old woman in Homer Township. The 31-year-old was lodged at Midland County Jail without incident. The report will be forwarded to prosecutor.

11:05 a.m. - A 72-year-old Midland man reported that a home he is buying in Jerome Township was broken into and copper pipes were stolen.  

10:38 a.m. - Deputies spoke to a postal worker who was confronted by a Lee Township man as she delivered his mail. The man was upset regarding other delivery drivers speeding down his drive. The postal worker was able to converse with the man and work out the issue without incident.

10:50 p.m. - Deputies responded to a Jerome Township residence regarding a fraud complaint. A 35-year-old Jerome Township woman said her debit card was compromised and used fraudulently by a unknown individual for $460. The woman advised her card has since been canceled and she was reimbursed by her credit union. The woman said she wants this documented in case it continues to happen.

9:40 a.m. - Deputies responded to Edenville Township for report of a suspicious person possibly hiding in a ditch. Deputies searched the area, however nobody was found hiding.

8:58 p.m. - Deputies spoke to a 49-year-old woman regarding a complaint of dogs being left outside to cry and bark. The woman said she is crate training the puppies outside. The puppies appeared to be healthy and had food and water available.

4:51 a.m. - Deputies were dispatched to a Larkin Township residence to check the wellbeing of a 61-year-old man per request of his 53-year-old ex-wife. Deputies spoke with the man. He advised that he was OK.

11:29 p.m. - Deputies were dispatched to a Mills Township residence regarding a third-party report of a verbal argument between a 25-year-old man and his 23-year-old girlfriend. Deputies spoke with both parties. No assault occurred. The couple agreed to remain separated for the evening.

9:09 p.m. - A Deputy was dispatched to a Warren Township location regarding two small children playing in the roadway causing a traffic hazard. The Deputy checked the area, and no children were observed in road. The deputy spoke with a 45-year-old woman at the scene who advised her grandchildren were near the roadway earlier and she already resolved the issue.

7:59 p.m. - A deputy was dispatched to assist paramedics with a combative 83-year-old Midland Township woman. The deputy spoke with the woman, and she remained calm. The woman was transported to the emergency room via ambulance without incident.

8:03 p.m. - A 71-year-old Edenville Township woman notified the sheriff's office that she was a victim of a phone scam. The woman stated she wire transferred $1,500 to an unknown man caller identifying himself as a representative from the Publisher's Clearing House. The man promised a large sum of money in return, however, the female victim received nothing.

6:55 p.m. - Police were called to Jefferson and Joe Mann Blvd. for an injury crash.

3:49 p.m. - Police were called to the 2800 block of Ashman Street for a property damage crash.

3:23 p.m. - A 36-year-old Bay County man called 911 and reported that an unknown man was yelling at him to slow down while he was delivering packages in Mills Township. The man wanted the incident documented because he delivers packages often on that road and does not want the man giving him a hard time. Deputies advised the man to call 911 if it continues to happen.

2:00 p.m. - A Deputy assisted a Midland Police Department officer in Mills Township who was conducting follow-up on a retail fraud investigation that occurred in the city.

12:50 p.m. - Police were called to Stark and Airport roads for an injury crash.

11:09 a.m. - A Deputy assisted the Midland Police Department with a three-vehicle crash.

10:44 a.m. - An animal control deputy received a call regarding a delivery person being bitten at a home in Lee Township while delivering a package. Minor injury and an isolation notice was issued to the dog owner.

10:03 a.m. - An animal control deputy received a complaint regarding an ongoing problem with 2 dogs running loose from a home in Lee Township. Dog owner issued a citation. Complaint referred to the prosecutor.

9:32 a.m. - A deputy was dispatched to a Larkin Township residence to speak with a 46-year-old man regarding a domestic assault. The 46-year-old man stated that he was physically assaulted by his 18-year-old son. A report will be sent to the prosecutor for review.

8:56 a.m. - A deputy assisted the Midland City Police with locating two subjects that fled while being taken to mandated treatment. The males were located, and the matter was handled by the Midland City Police and probation.

4:33 a.m. - A deputy investigated a single vehicle crash in Mills Township. The driver, a 26-year-old Midland man, was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol as a result of the crash. The man was transported to the Midland County Jail, where he was lodged without incident. The vehicle didn't sustain any damage and a traffic crash report wasn't needed. A report was completed and forwarded to the prosecutor for review.
